What is “Toastmasters International”?

Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs.  Headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, the organization’s membership exceeds 358,000 in more than 16,800 clubs in 143 countries.  Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people from diverse backgrounds become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders. Toastmasters revolves around "clubs" which normally meet weekly or bi-weekly and consist of on average 20 members. With a network of 16,800 clubs across 143 countries, we are excited to tell you more about our Club, Jo Ellen's  Silverados!

HOW WE GOT OUR CLUB NAME - "Jo Ellen's Silverados "

In honor of and memory of our beloved, Mother Jo Ellen Cole and Deacon Silver Zamora, we chose the name Jo Ellen’s Silverados for our club to commemorate them.

WHEN WE STARTED

Jo Ellen’s Silverados Toastmasters was chartered on May 28, 2016.

OUR CLUB TODAY

Here we are years later under the leadership of District 12, who provides us with coaches, mentors and training from Toastmasters International. We have members that have become Competent Communicators and Competent Leaders under the legacy education  system. Now we are launching forward with the Pathways Educational system which is the new online-based education system for Toastmasters International.  In Pathways, members are able to choose from 11 different educational tracks. Each provides hundreds of educational objectives that are transferable into each member's career.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Jo Ellen’s Silverados became a Select Distinguished Club for the dates of July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019 as well as July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020. This was accomplished from the collective efforts from our members, leaders, club coaches, and district leadership. With 4 years under our belt, we are encouraging the world to come join us! – You too can grow and change the course of your life and the world!
